Primary

In the Primary Montessori classroom, children joyfully build the foundational habits of independence, concentration, and care for their community. Through self-directed, hands-on Montessori work, they discover early concepts in math, language, literacy, and practical life. This critical stage is where confidence and a deep love of learning take root, laying the groundwork for the kindergarten year.

Throughout the Primary years, children engage in daily outdoor time and experience Spanish language immersion as a natural part of the classroom environment. In alignment with Montessori principles, they are also introduced to screen-free coding and hands-on technology through sequencing, problem-solving, and collaborative exploration that supports both cognitive and language development.

Kindergarten

In the Primary Montessori classroom, the kindergarten year is a capstone experience. Students step into the role of leader and mentor, modeling independence and focus for their younger peers.

At Inkwell, this year deepens Montessori work already underway. Kindergarten students build on earlier experiences with literacy, Spanish language immersion, and screen-free technology by engaging more intentionally with hands-on robotics and coding tools. This approach supports academic readiness, confidence, and thoughtful problem-solving as children prepare for elementary school.

Aftercare

Inkwell Montessori offers optional aftercare for enrolled students. Families may extend the school day with supervised afternoon care. From 3:00 PM to 5:45 PM, students enjoy free play, art projects, games, movement, and outdoor time with friends. While aftercare is less structured, it reflects Montessori values of independence, choice, and respect for the whole child, with an emphasis on creativity, social connection, and unstructured fun.

“The goal of early childhood education should be to activate the child’s own natural desire to learn.”
